Freshman Ministries

One of the most difficult life transitions occurs during the first year of college for students. High school graduates often leave their friends, family, and life-as-they-knew-it behind. The freshman experience is filled with freedom, excitement, loneliness, joy, growth, home-sickness, community, and mistakes. During these life transitions, it is vital for Jesus to be with you and community to be around you. Did you know that a college student who did not go to church before college is more likely to be involved in a church after college than a person who was involved in church activities before college? Here are some helpful ways to get and remain plugged in as a freshman at the Wesley Foundation:

This is our new student group which is a great entry point for newcomers to the Wesley during the fall semester. This group is aimed at building Christian community throughout the course of the semester in lots of ways. Through free food, testimonies, and the most creative fun experiences, this group will help you get involved with friends who build you up. After our fall retreat, this group will begin to go deeper through the formation of smaller groups.

Salt Shaker

We encourage all who were involved with 2420 to sign up for Salt Shaker. At the Wesley, it is our goal to raise up a generation of dynamic Christians who lead. Salt Shaker is our first level discipleship course which aims to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who are knowledgeable, committed, experienced, active, known for love, deeply loved, intentional, and balanced. This fourteen week class which is held during the spring semester begins with a powerful retreat and challenges Christians at every maturity level to take their Christianity outside of the four walls of our church culture and into the real world where the Holy Spirit is waiting to start a movement.

Freshman Haiti Mission Trip

This year the Wesley will take as many freshman who are willing to the nation of Haiti over Spring Break. We will be working in the poorest area of the poorest country in the Western hemisphere through the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission from the dates of March 12th-March 19th!
