If you don’t like introductions, here is your chance to skip one.  Go ahead, no one is watching.

Now if you are still reading, picture if you will…

…a husband who is madly in love with his wife.

…a papa who frantically tries to keep up with his six children.

…an old man who desperately hopes he has reached maturity in a few places.

…a spiritual father who has a deep passion for the younger generations.

…a rabbi who has many years of experience but is still hungry to learn  more… much, much more.

These are a few points of the story of Scott Latham.  Along the way Scott has: played Superman (literally); been a telephone operator; sang “Dead Skunk In The Middle Of  The Road” to youth groups; broke his nose twice; built a mammoth backyard fort[ress?]; snot bawled at his daughter’s first dance with a ballet company; dominated his children in nerf gun wars and ping pong; played linebacker in  football and basketball (yes, basketball and according to his family….linebacker in everything he does);  been a preacher, college professor, and professional counselor.  He has lived most of his life in Texas but has also lived in Kentucky and Washington (Seattle is Awesome!).  And somewhere in the story he made a spiritual pilgrimage to Ireland (his Latham clan comes from Belfast).

Scott counts it a profound privilege to be at The Texas Tech Wesley Foundation.  (A bit of trivia: Diana’s family has attended Texas Tech for many generations and The Wesley Foundation has played a very important part in her family’s story.)  Scott comes to The Wesley Foundation to give direction to the development of small groups and spiritual community.  He enjoys Starbucks coffee (Really Enjoys!!), Monday Night Football, building backyard forts (ask him about the fort he and his two youngest sons built), going on dates with his wife, hanging out with his tribe, listening to his children play the piano / guitar / drums / ????, reading bible commentaries, camping, grilling, solving logic problems, and playing board games.  His favorite book is The Importance Of Being Foolish, by Brennen Manning and his favorite movie is “Kung Fu Panda”.  Scott is in the process of designing another tattoo for himself and scheming to buy another manly tool from Lowe’s.  He deeply believes that the world doesn’t need better answers as much as it needs better questions – he loves it when someone asks him really good questions.

He is super curious and finds a lot of joy hearing people’s story and sharing about the adventures of the Latham Nation.  So stop by his office to swap stories.  And don’t forget the Starbucks coffee – venti, decaf, Americano, with cream.  Oh yeah!
