Josh Hurst - Missions and Campus Life

Josh Hurst - Missions and Campus Life DirectorI am a 23-year-old Texas Tech graduate. I moved to Lubbock from the far-away hometown of Ruston, Louisiana (current Texas Tech pipeline feeder). As an out-of-place freshman who knew no one, the Wesley Foundation became my community. It helped shape and form the leader I am today. Through my involvement in salt shaker, small groups, Underground, and leadership teams, I began to realize the huge passion God had given me to see college students come to know and grow in intimacy with the Lord.

This has led me to the place I am today: Director of Missions and Campus Life at the Wesley. I am not perfect. I struggle. I fail. And these truths are things I try and hide the most from others, myself, and my relationship with God. I am learning day by day how deep his love, mercy, and grace are for me. God is a good shepherd, and He is faithful. I fight his faithfulness. I am called to full-time ministry and continuing to pursue this calling. This calling and his purpose will never be lived out by my own human effort, but simply by being attached to His vine and letting him produce the fruit.

I love ultimate Frisbee. In fact I love all sports, and I am always willing to play if you ask. I am an avid fantasy sports player which some might consider a form of human trafficking. I love Texas Tech football and am the #1 Red Raider Fan. I might enjoy competition? Hanging out with people gives me life, especially the moments and relationships where people feel comfortable enough to become undignified with each other. Random Fact: Seriously, I love flying flags and streamers during worship. However, I have only had the opportunity to do it once.

My prayers for the Wesley: (Please join me!)
1. a generation of Christian leaders raised up
2. Wesley would establish long term relationships built through short term missions
3. men experience love and forgiveness from sexual sins
4. God’s kingdom advance to the darkest hearts of the lost on campus.
5. God would send the fullness of his Spirit
