25 Days Of Prayer Featured

Prayer is not a pass-time, it is not salt to the mash potatoes of a relationship with your creator. It is the end all- be all of what it means to follow Jesus. It is difficult and hard to imagine that the most important thing for us as christians is prayer- we are implored to get on our knees talk to a God we can’t see and tell him what he tells us to talk to him about. Prayer is how we are humbled, and in an era of Spiritual merit badges and Purple Persecution Hearts- Humility is what we need most.

God is faithful in all things- Lubbock is a broken city and Texas Tech is even more so. Joining together and calling on the Lord to come and heal this land is what needs to happen most. Have you not noticed? We (me included) have become apathetic, we have become unmotivated and we have lost our spiritual discipline because we have stopped praying. CHOP last semester was at the very front of a HUGE movement of the holy spirit. We wonder where it has gone? We have not made ourselves available to be used because we have forgotten to pray.

I can list a million bible verses talking about the importance of prayer- but we need not but look at our own hearts, our own city and realize what a lack of prayer has turned much of the body of Christ into. We are searching for the BIG thing- the revivals, the miracles, the unfication, the awesome worship. yet we don’t realize that we have it all backwards. THE big thing is a strong relationship with the creator of the universe, what could be bigger?

He wants to talk to you. He wants to Tell you how much he loves YOU. Take some time, listen, bring requests to him, and respond accordingly.

For 25 days we will call upon the Lord to move in Lubbock, to move in our hearts, to move in our classrooms, to move in our dead churches. Join with me as we seek the face of Jesus.

I'm about as important and interesting to be around in real life as I am short- and to be perfectly honest, I'm 6'5. I like poetry and I like blogging in small doses (and by doses i mean words, not frequency). I like listening to music more than i like eating vegetables and when it rains you will usually find me outside.
