So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise”
As I head to Haiti I continue to battle my obsession with “doing” first instead of listening first. I am not interested in changing lives anymore because I have recently realized that the results aren’t in my jurisdiction. An apple tree doesn’t sit, squint and try to push apples out of it’s branches, it just happens because that’s how the creator designed it.
Jesus said that he does nothing on his own accord- I think as Christians we could learn a lot from this dude named Jesus. We should probably start listening to him. We aren’t called to DO just because we think it’s right. We are called to watch and listen to what the father IS DOING and join in. I can’t fight sin without God’s grace, I can’t even wake up without his grace, what makes me think I can make a difference in the kingdom of God if I am not relying on his guidance to begin with?
I am exceptionally disinterested in “seeking” these days, even during the great commission when Jesus said to “Go and make disciples…etc” did the twelve just drop what they were doing and run around telling people about Jesus?
No. they waited on the spirit and THEN moved based on his direction. As I leave for Haiti I continue to realize that the most important thing is intimacy with the Lord. The rest will follow. My advice? Quit seeking fruit, and start seeking the Love of the Father through the holy spirit. We shall see how well I can do that this week.
